Kevin Durant and the “Real MVP”

Humility often does not follow praise in professional sports.

Kevin Durant was named the NBA MVP yesterday and upon accepting this prestigious award, he gave one of the most emotional and inspirational acceptance speeches I have heard.

In this speech Durant calls his mother the “real MVP” and his genuineness brings tears to the eyes. Durant gives us an example of how to receive praise in true humility and gratitude.

This award is entirely individualistic and through receiving this praise, Durant pours praise upon his God, coaches, teammates, and mother. The NBA needs more of this.

Below is Durant’s entire acceptance speech.
