From the Hymnal: We the Redeemed

Sometimes, in the dead of night, thoughts can overwhelm us. As we go throughout our typically busy day, we can usually block out all of our sorrows and heartaches. The company of others is a great pain-blocker, but after 4-6 hours, like Tylenol, the medicine wears off and the pain returns. Now, as you stare into an empty bottle of pain medicine, laying in bed with nothing but your own thoughts keeping you awake, you need a perfect antidote. You need a cure. I am particularly addressing Christians who are struggling in the fight for joy. You want to say that you are rejoicing in the Lord during your time of suffering and heartache, but it is just not the truth. Firstly, be honest. In this dark time, realize the gravity of the situation and how you are being robbed of joy. Realize your helplessness before God and all creation. Your place of vulnerability puts you in perfect position to trust and hope in your God. Pray to Him tonight and ask Him to comfort your weary heart and ask Him to carry your heavy burden. Release that weight on His mighty soldiers. Take back this antidote of grace and love tonight. But above all, realize who you are. You are a redeemed child of the living God. The God who created this beautiful moon also created the sun that will without fail rise tomorrow morning. Rise with it and sing praises alongside the sun to God. I find when I am up late and my thoughts are racing, I must rely on a constant. God never changes and we can rest in His power to save all who trust in His Son Jesus Christ. It is quiet tonight. It is peaceful. Though your heart may be troubled and chaotic, God is constantly loving, sovereign, merciful, and faithful. If you need a burst of joy, do not focus on your circumstance, but trust God’s sovereignty in it and sing a soft song of praise to Him before you fall asleep. “We the Redeemed” by Hillsong is a beautiful cry to God; praising Him and telling Him that we place our hope in Him, the glorious One! As you praise Him for His glory tonight, you will be filled with joy. And remember, “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). Sleep with the peace of the moon and rise with the joy of the sun. Find your joy in God tonight while singing His praises into your sleep, while you wake singing His praises in a new day He has made. Glory to God in the highest!

We the Redeemed

There is nothing like Your love
No exchange for all You gave
To be welcomed into life
So I can know the love it takes

Now forever to be loved To walk with You for all my days There’s no greater love than this
You are the Author and the Way

This is the sound of the redeemed
Rising up to praise the King
Our hope is in You
This is the sound of the redeemed
Rising up to praise the King

Singing glorious glorious One You have saved us
Honor and Power and Praise to the Savior.
You are the Answer You are the Answer

You come with power come with fire
As we lift Your name on high
And join with all the saints to sing
In bringing Honor to the King.

This is the sound of the redeemed
Rising up to praise the King
Our hope is in You This is the sound of the redeemed
Rising up to praise the King

Singing glorious glorious One You have saved us
Honor and Power and Praise to the Savior.
You are the Answer You are the Answer

We the redeemed
Hear us singing
You are Holy
You are Holy
